19 Months

Sara Kate, you are 19 months old!! What have you been up to?
- You are one of the oldest in your class at school, and I think you will be moving to the next class soon. You are now sleeping on a mat instead of a pack n play, which is something they do in the next class. Your best friend Grayson is making visits to the next class and she's the oldest so you may be doing that soon. You are doing really well when I drop you off in the mornings, but you are hugging onto my legs some days, which is a new thing. You did get in trouble for the first time last week and had to be put in time out. What did you do?? You were intentionally pulling hair! - Your daily schedule looks a little something like this: I wake you up around 6:45 and get you dressed (lately you've been waking up right before I get to your room and you are sitting up just happy as can be), and you get to school around 7:30. You have breakfast that I pack for you around 8:30 (usually some combo of a breakfast bar, yogurt, or a banana) and you drink juice/water. You have lunch between 11 and 11:30 and you eat whatever they are having at school and you drink milk with lunch. You go down for a nap after lunch and it lasts between 11:30-1:30, usually about an hour and a half. After nap is snack time between 2-2:30, which is some kind of cracker, and you have water with your snack. You get picked up between 4:30-5:30 and we head home! - Your eating is hit or miss. Some nights you eat great and some nights are awful. You are very deliberate and opinionated in what do like/don't like or want/don't want. And you are very into doing things yourself! Your favorite foods are still any kind of pasta or rice dish with a tomato based sauce (like spaghetti), cheese, turkey & cheese sandwich, bread, Cheerios, green beans, bananas, apple sauce, and yogurt. You still sign 'more please' and you've started saying the word 'more' when you ask for a snack or a bite of food. - You are a great sleeper and go to bed around 8 and wake up usually between 7 and 7:30. But after you wake up, you will stay in your crib just as content as can be and play for and hour or 2 if we let you (on Saturday morning)!! Mommy appreciates the extra rest! :-) - You have been teething pretty bad lately. You are drooling like a fountain and your hand is constantly in your mouth. You now have 4 teeth on top and 4 teeth on the bottom (front 4 on top and front 4 on bottom), and we just noticed the tip of your top left 2-year molar has broken through the skin. I think that's probably what has been causing you a good bit of pain lately.
- Your favorite toys are your books, blocks, shape block ball, any kind of ball, and your puzzle. You are very into helping cleaning up the toys. You are a big helper at school picking up the toys and earlier this evening you picked up all the toys and put them away in your room all by yourself. One of your favorite books is 'What Does Baby Do' and you're favorite page says 'Mommy asks, "How big are you?" So Big!' - We think you are so smart! You know where your head, knees, toes, eyes, nose, and mouth are, you recognize when we get home, to church, or to Meme's & Poppa's, you know what sounds a cat, dog, and duck make and you will repeat after me when we make other animal sounds, you know what sound a car makes, where the car is, and when I say 'go to the car' you go to the garage door, you can match the shapes and colors together in your shape block ball with no problem, and you can match pictures of animals together...just a few things I want to remember that you have learned at this age. - You talk up a storm and we can sometimes make out what you mean. Words you say regularly include mama, dada, doggy, cat, Poppa, hi, bye, more, this one, that one, that, again, bath, and all gone.
- You love music and will just dance and bounce to any music. You are starting to 'sing' too and it's the cutest thing when we can tell you are singing a song to yourself.
- You are soooooo silly!!! You make us laugh constantly, and you definitely know when you have an audience!
- You are such a happy girl most of the time, but you can have a little attitude when something doesn't go exactly the way you want. It's much worse if you are tired. You've also perfected the 'this is a fake cry but I'm going to do it so I can get what I want' cry. Obviously fake! :-) - Your blonde hair is growing long in the back (think mullett, ha!) and Meme gave you your first pig tails last weekend!! It was too cute!! - You can still wear 12 month clothes but your fall/winter clothes are 18 months so you are wearing those even though they are big. Your fall/winter jammies are 18 month.
- You are wearing a size 4 shoe.
- You are wearing size 4 diaper. You know when you poop and will point to your bottom and go to your room and point at your changing pad.
Is it time to think about potty training?? I'm not sure!
- You are so perfect and so special and we just love you so much!!
