Under the Weather

Sara Kate's shots certainly affected her differently this time. Last night she just wanted to cuddle, which was fine with me. We watched a movie and she and I cuddled. When I had to wake her up to get ready for bed, she got MAD! I think she was hurting and she had a fever. She ended up nursing for about 20 minutes and then fell asleep. She slept until 7:15 this morning! Yay, baby girl! This momma loved the extra sleep! Today she has been kinda puny all day long. Poor girl has just looked so sad. We did run to town earlier to meet Aunt Jenny for lunch and then to the mall, where she took a little nap. This afternoon she's just wanted to be a cuddle bug again. Just now she seems to be acting a little more normal. Chris just took this video of her 'talking' and I thought I'd share it!

And here's a cute picture he snapped earlier after a nap when she was quasi-happy.

4 Month Appointment

Today Sara Kate had her 4 month appointment with the pediatrician. We can definitely tell she's a chunk so we were really interested in finding out how much she weighs. We learned that we definitely have a chunky monkey on our hands!! Here are her 4 month stats:

Weight: 15 lb., 4 oz. (90th percentile!!)
Height: 24.4 inches (60th percentile)
Head Circumference: 41.00 inches (60th percentile)

So in 2 months, she gained 4 lbs. and grew 2 inches. Guess her momma's milk agrees with her.
This picture says 15 lb., 6 oz. but she was kicking around so much I guess it officially clocked in at 15 lb., 4 oz. And as you can see, she wasn't very happy during her weigh in.
The doctor checked her over....
He listened to hear heart and lungs...
He did something with her legs and hips...
He looked in her ears...
And he looked in her mouth.
He said she's perfectly healthy, she's doing great, and to just keep doing what we're doing for the next 2 months! And then she got to get dressed and was a happy girl!
But that's because she didn't know what was coming... :-(
First came the oral vaccine, which I remembered to ask which one it was. It was the Rotovirus vaccine.
Then the super duper NOT fun part...a stick in each leg...
And then came the scream heard through the clinic...
And then I grabbed her and held her close. Her scream still made me sad, but it didn't get to me like it did last time because I knew what was coming. She cried for a minute but then she was fine. Here are her battle wounds.
Since she was such a good girl, she got to go to Target and pick out a couple new outfits! Ha! I guess I should say that mommy picked out a few new things for her in 3-6 month sizes while she took a little cat nap. :-)
Hopefully she'll do fine tonight, and she won't have any reactions. Guess only time will tell. It's about time to feed her so I better get off here!

1st day of school

*Update about last night - last night went alright, not great thanks to the animals. I put Sara Kate to bed around 9:30 and I went to bed at 10:30 and woke myself up in a coughing fit at 11. That's always annoying! Then at 4:15 or so, Cora starts pacing...and pacing...and pacing...then she barks. Ugh!! She has a really deep loud bark too. All I could think was PLEASE Sara Kate, don't wake up. Ha! So I put the dogs outside to potty, brought them back in, get settled back in bed for the last 30 min. of my night, and the stupid cat starts meowing obnoxiously...right outside Sara Kate's room! Double ugh!! Anyway, I got up at 5, and Cora started pacing again. I closed her in the bathroom with me so she wouldn't wake the babe. I just took them outside and turns out, she has the runs...lovely, I know. I figured she did since the pacing only happens if she needs to go out. I gave her an Immodium to stop her up, and hopefully I won't come home to a poop explosion later! Time to go get the kid up!

Well, we all survived Sara Kate's 1st day of school! We were running late this morning because we stayed up way too late last night and I didn't have everything together like I should have. I felt like such a slacker parent. In fact, maybe Sara Kate was nervous about her first day because she didn't go to sleep until 11:00 last night!! That's way past her bedtime! HA! Anyway, this morning we finished getting her stuff packed, made sure she looked super cute, and Chris and I both headed out to drop her off.
It went smoothly, and I only teared up a couple times. We had her schedule all printed out, along with her bottles and bags of milk and extra sets of clothes. We said goodbye and I headed off to work and Chris headed to his own school to take care of some things. Chris ended up stopping by to see Sara Kate one more time around 10:30 and this is what he sent me. Hilarious!
I purposely scheduled a lunch meeting today to keep me occupied, and it worked out pretty well. I finally ended up calling to check on her about 2:30 and they said she had been great. They said she was so happy all day and that she had even taken three little naps...in her crib! Shocking! Meme went to pick her up around 3 and she was actually asleep at the time. Here's her little 'report card.' We get one of these every day that details her nap schedule, feedings, and diaper changes.
Sara Kate has done great tonight, and we had some great snuggle time while watching 'The Bachelorette.' She's in bed now and I need to head that way myself. This is actually my first night with just me and her. Hopefully it will go smoothly...wish us luck! Night-night!

I have no creative title.....

Well it's been another uneventful week. On Friday we made one more trip to Sara Kate's school to meet the other teacher and turn in last minute paper work. We should have taken stuff like diapers, extra clothes, bottles etc., but we didn't. I feel like slacker parents. We even left her there for about 20 minutes and ran down to Sam's for wipes. When we got back she was having a ball in a bouncer. I know she'll be fine and have a great time, but tomorrow morning is gonna be rough! Chris and I are both going to drop her off, then Chris will head off to Hot Springs during the day, and Meme will pick her up. I still have to decide what she's gonna wear for her first day of school...ha!! Of course, she must look adorable and impress all the other babies! :-)
Here we are before heading to visit school
Friday evening we had a little impromptu photo shoot. I got Chris a new lens he was wanting for his birthday and he just used birthday money to get a flash. He got some great shots!
I am in LOVE with this picture!!!
Saturday I managed to pull one over on Chris (which is very hard to do because he's just tuned into everything!)!! Since we were busy all last weekend with the wedding, we weren't able to really celebrate his birthday. Thursday I started thinking about having a surprise get together. I made some calls and most folks were able to come by for a little while. So I set the party for 5. I ordered a cake and pizza, and had Phillip pick everything up before he came over. About 4:45 I get changed, and start to get Sara Kate changed...Chris thinks us and Phillip are going to Best Buy and then to pick up some dinner. The guys take the dogs outside to potty at 5 and people start showing up...yay! Funny thing is, the first person here is a guy that's never been to our house. Chris comes in Sara Kate's room and says, 'what's Wade doing here?' I say I don't know. Then his mom comes over. Then Michael and Brandy show up, and finally it starts to click that something is going on. He was surprised...yay! Some other friends show up, we have pizza, cake, and hang out. It turned out to be a good night with good friends.
Sara Kate hanging out with Meme
Sara Kate was super entertained during cake time!
This wasn't everybody but we worked with what we had!!
At the end of the night, Sara Kate was hanging out with Uncle Phillip.
And then he got anointed....hahaha!!!!!
Today we went to church and have just been laying around this afternoon. Sara Kate and I took a nice nap together with her laying on my chest while I was laying on the couch...just like the old days...love it!!
Tonight Chris and I are heading to the Walton Arts Center to see 'Beauty and the Beast.' We usually just got to a show here and there, but this season we bought tickets for several shows. It's always fun to go to stuff like that and we should definitely take advantage of having it in our area. Meme will hang out with Sara Kate and then I'll finish getting her stuff ready for school tomorrow.

I'll leave you with a few more cute shots of our girl from this past week!

Another Review

Man, I'm being a lazy blogger these days! There just isn't a whole lot to report and work has been a little hectic the last couple weeks so I've been enjoying spending time with my baby girl, Chris, and my mom when I've been getting home. This past week was back to normal with Chris being back in town. Mom was still here because she was teaching a conference in Springdale. Yay! Sara Kate loved spending all that time with Gran, and she was cute as ever all week!
She left this morning, and we really enjoyed having her for the last 2 weeks. She got to spend quality time with Sara Kate Friday night and Saturday night because we were doing music in a wedding for some friends from church (our friends whose shower we helped host last month). Let's go back to Friday, though.

Friday was Chris' 30th birthday (happy birthday, babe...love ya tons!). We were kind of limited in what we could do that evening because of the wedding rehearsal, but we did a couple things during the day. I took the day off and we had a nice lunch together. Then we ran to the mall so I could find a dress for the wedding...I decided at the last minute that I didn't have anything dressy enough for the event. Seriously, way to wait until the last minute, Kristen!! Ha! The other BIG thing we did Friday was go visit Sara Kate's school (remember, I'm saying she goes to school instead of daycare). We went to go meet her teachers, get some paperwork, and find out for sure what all we need to bring (of course, we discussed this before but I glazed over it in my pregnant state because it was so far away at the time). She will officially start school August 2. I'm feeling pretty emotional about it. We are really lucky that Chris has been able to stay home with her all summer and Sara Kate is so fortunate she's gotten all that bonding time with her daddy. And I feel good that she'll be almost 4 months old when she starts, but I'm gonna miss getting pictures texted to me every day or video clips sent to me when she's being cute. Someone else is going to see those cute things and probably see some 'firsts' before I do. Someone else is going to have play time with her and watch her discover new things. It'll be fine, and I know she'll thrive and make lots of friends. I'll be dropping her off in the mornings and Chris will pick her up in the afternoon. Those first few mornings are gonna be extra rough on me because Chris is going to be be in Hot Springs for a conference. So say a little prayer for me the week of Aug. 2!! Anyway, Sara Kate looked super cute (of course!) when she went to visit school for the first time.
When we were there, Sara Kate just took everything in. She just looked around at everything, checked out the other kids and the toys that they had there, and was pretty relaxed. I know she'll do great there.

Saturday we did a little running around and had a short visit with Chris' family before we had to get ready for the wedding.Time to get ready to go! Don't we clean up nicely??
Wedding time! Like I said earlier, we were involved the music. Chris played piano, I played flute, and another guy played the guitar. We played some Irish music to start with, Canon in D for the processional, and Irish music for the recessional. And Chris played and sang during the unity candle and communion. It was challenging music and required serious practice, but it turned out great. We got compliments all night, and I think the bride and groom were thrilled with it!
Beautiful bride, Joanna
Beautiful Ceremony
Time to party!
Jo Kaye and Brandy

Awesome church friends - Mallory, Lauren, Brandy, Joanna, me, and Jo Kaye
Chris, Richy (groom), Michael, and Brandy
And this is just funny...Michael and Brandy with "that guy" (AKA Steve) in the background...ha!
We had a great time but stayed out way too late because we are tired today!! But it was fun. We said goodbye to Gran this morning and headed to church!
Sara Kate says, have a good week everyone!! I'm gonna enjoy my last full week at home with my daddy!
